As
you can see PORTO BOTTE with 57%
of profits days is among the windiest spot of
southern Sardinia. Moreover, while for other spots sometimes the
wind can be so strong, but with not optimal direction (ex. side-off
or off), in Porto Botte every day is good. Thanks to the conformation
of the Golfo Palmas coast and the nearby Sant'Antioco island,
you can kitesurf with any wind direction at the maximum distance
of 15 Km from the base. Beyond that it should be noted that the
record data don't include summer thermal winds, especially with
the mistral and sirocco, that in Porto Botte reinforces the expected
wind around 5 knots, turning a day to 10 knots in a 15! (Note
also that Porto Botte records only 12% days without wind). Finally,
by averaging out all the southern Sardinia spots, you get 54%
of useful days of wind, more than a day yes and one not for whole
year!

Over
the past 3 years, in southern Sardinia the windy month seems to
be March with an average of 68%. The least windy seems August,
but in summer further than perturbation winds, there are thermal
winds that blowing from 13 to 24 knots. They are not detected
in weather forecasting. For example in August 2008 in Porto Botte,
we noted 29 kitesurfing days equal at 94%!

need to comment: in PORTO BOTTE there is always wind!!!
Over the past 4 years, the average wind was over 59% and the windiest
months were March, December and February, but the others are slightly
lower and did not fall below 47%! In summer time july win with
56%, second place for june with 54%...
